Wii Nand 4.3

The following guide is by AbdallahTerro (Abz). Slightly edited by me.

Hi guys, Tech James here,For this tutorial, I’ll be show you guys how to install PriiLoader onto your Nintendo Wii, and create a NAND Backup using BootMii.

Wii console with System Menu version 4.3 Method 2 only An SD card (Best results are with non-SDHC cards) formatted to FAT(32). Part 1: Launching the HackMii Installer. The HackMii installer is the installation tool that we can use to install the Homebrew Channel; which will allow us to launch Homebrew in a convenient way. Get your Wii's mac address:The MAC address of the Wii can be found by: From the Wii Channel menu, select 'Wii Settings' (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with 'Wii' on it) Select 'Internet,' then 'Console Settings.' The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line. Format your SD card. The NAND formatter does have the option to read your existing setting.txt from the NAND, however if there is something wrong with it and you use it, you will still have a broken system. So, this tutorial covers creating a new setting.txt file using the above tool to cover all the bases.

Why do I need Neek?
Channels can be installed on your wii's real nand but the wii's internal memory is a tiny 512MB and you'll soon run out of space. With an emu nand you can install as many channels as your storage device (SD or USB) has space for, which is usually way more than 512MB. You need Neek by Crediar to be able to play channels installed in your emu nand on SD or USB. Other things you can do with Neek and a emu nand include:

  1. Play out of region channels
  2. Play your channels on other Wii's
  3. Use cheats
  4. Test custom channels and system menu themes without fear of bricking your wii
  5. Play DIOS MIOS GameCube games without installing a cMIOS
  6. Plus still play your Wii games

What’s Neek2o?
Neek2o is a mod of Neek by obcd and overjoy that added many features and allowed customization and ability to use neek off USB device with no SD inserted.

Can I use Neek2o in Wiiflow?
Yes, WiiFlow 4 can use Neek2o rev90+ to launch emu nand channels.

Is Neek2o mode really needed? I can use the regular mode just fine!
In 90+% of the time you’ll be fine but some games (castlevania rebirth, rubik’s rush, swords and soldires, target toss pro bags, Zelda majora’s mask….) won't work and just black screen. Having WiiFlow launch those games via Neek2o solves the problem.

So what do i do to make this work?

First you need to make your emu nand.

This is the easiest way to make a Neek2o emu nand for your favorite USB loaders especially for WiiFlow 4.1+ or Postloader 4+

Here’s a basic pre-made emu nand by Abz included in his WiiFlow all-in-one pack (download on wiki homepage). Includes only the disc channel, WiiFlow channel, Postloader channel, and Neek2o return to real nand channel.

4.3U or 4.3E (included in the pack)

You’ll also need:
WiiXplorer rev241: http://code.google.com/p/wiixplorer/downloads/list
and
Showmiiwads v1.4: http://code.google.com/p/showmiiwads/downloads/list

Region Free Hacks and Wiiflow Hidden Channel v2 are also already installed.

Premade Emunand Setup:
1. Extract Fresh_Emunand_4.3(E)_or(U)_Uneek_DI_rev95.7z to get “SD_Files” and “USB_Files” folders
2. SD Files are optional to be used with bootmii IOS
3. Copy the content of “USB_Files” i.e. “Sneek” and “Nands” folders to the root of a Fat32 32k cluster formatted USB HDD (after running a scandisk to make sure it’s free of errors)
4. Make sure you have Wiixplorer rev241 in your “apps” folder on SD or USB
5. Connect your HDD to the Wii and start WiiXplorer from the Homebrew channel
6. Select “Nand” as the source and copy “shared2″ folder by pressing the “+” button on it/select copy
7. Select USB (Fat32 partition where your neek files are) as Source and go to “Nands” >> “Pln2o” then click “+” and select paste
This will copy your “shared2″ folder with your Wii settings, Wiimote info, Network info to the new Emunand
8. Your Emunand is ready you can use it with Neek2o Channel, WiiFlow and Postloader for Neek2o mode and with all loaders for savegame Emulation
9. Use showmiiwads to fill the new nand with games and stuff (select the Nand Path in Options, then select your Wads folder and extract them “to Nand”)
10. Make sure you write the correct path in wiiflow.ini, it should look like this:
[GAMES]
savepath=/nands/pln2o/
[NAND]
disable=no
path=/nands/pln2o/

Congrats you have a working neek2o emu nand with all your games/channels
Tip: When everything works fine, backup sneeknandcfg.bin and nandspl_xxtitle0000000100000002datasettings.txt. You might need them to repair trouble later.
Tip: You can also use a PC to set these 2 files to 'read only' using file property or attrib command, this might prevent corruption.
Tip: You can create as many nands as you want but one is really enough.
Now what? I want to use WiiFlow to play my emu nand games.
Usb1. Open Wiiflow 4 and go to channels mode or select emu nand from the source menu
2. Your games should appear and now you can download the covers and preview the banners
3. Start any game using default settings. If you face an issue with default launch mode, try 'neek2o' launch option on last game settings page
Note: Some titles will just blackscreen since they belong to a different region, there's nothing you can do here except get the game from your region or wait for a neek2o or apploader update
When I exit the game I'm back to SM on neek2o nand!
If you have this issue update Wiiflow to rev4.0.2 beta 712+ and neek2o to rev 93+. If you use the pack above this shouldn't be an issue.
Can I start WF in neek2o mode and play all WW/VC from there?
Sure, you need v14b forwarder and WiiFlow-Loader hidden channel from the pack above to be installed on your emu nand. Use Showmiiwads.
Once that's done start Neek2o and then launch WiiFlow from your Neek2o emu nand system menu or launch WiiFlow from real nand and use Exit to Neek2o option via the home menu.
Tip: When you exit to neek2o, WiiFlow will run from USBappswiiflowboot.dol if present and if not there it will run SDappsWiiflowboot.dolNand

Wii Nand 4.3 Usb

Whereas with the official forwarder channel SD path is checked first.
Hence advanced users can use this to run two different wiiflow revisions (one on SD and one on USB) but I recommend just having Wiiflow in one location only
Update on how things work: Using Wiiflow rev 712+ and neek2o rev93+
1. Start Wiiflow from real nand > Start any Wiiware in normal mode > Exit game > back to Wiiflow on real nand
2. Start Wiiflow from real nand > Start any Wiiware in neek2o mode > Exit game > back to Wiiflow on neek2o nand
3. Start Wiiflow from Neek2o nand > Start any Wiiware in any mode > Exit game > back to Wiiflow on neek2o nand
4. To go back to real nand select 'Exit to real nand' from Wiiflow exit menu
Tip:Nand you can use all modes in Wiiflow running in neek2o mode
Tip: To make GameCube mode appear in neek2o mode edit [DML] section in wiiflow.ini and make this tiny change : 'always_show_button=yes'
Tip: only limitation is that Wii wbfs games won't load from NTFS partition
(but hopefully this will change in the future when support for all partition types will be added - thanks to OverjoY's hard work)

Pre 1.0 (Version 0) - Remnants of this System Menu were found on the leaked 'Wii Startup Disc' NAND. It is unknown which IOS runs this menu. It could be IOS4v1 (remnants of this IOS were also found on the leaked NAND). There are no known images of this Menu. Essentially, nothing is known about this menu except that it did exist and it was only available for use during Factory setup.

Pre 1.0 (Version 1) - Also known as the Wii Startup Disc Menu. Some pre-release Wiis were shipped with this menu (and the Wii Startup Disc), for certain stores to setup the Wii to install the 1.0 System Menu. The Menu contains a image of the Wii and Startup Disc, with messages (in English, French, Spanish) instructing you to insert the Disc to setup the Wii. Menu runs on IOS4v3.

1.0J 1.0U 1.0E (Versions ??, 33, ??) - Came on most pre-release Wiis and on a small amount of 'Launch Day' Wiis. On the Wii Settings, there is no version number on the top right. Came with minimal channels (such as Mii channel). WiiConnect24 option was disabled. There were no options to change Country on the 1.0U Version. 1.0U and 1.0E runs on IOS9v516. While 1.0J runs on a version of IOS10 which we do not currently have for retail Wii's at this moment.

2.0J 2.0U 2.0E (Version 130, 97, 128) - Most Launch Day (American) Wiis came with this Menu. 2.0 allowed the ability to choose Country of residence, parental control settings added, ability to rearrange channels, and added SD card support for savegames. More basic channels included. For the 1.0 Wiis, an update was available to upgrade to 2.0U (needed to be done in order to play games, so update was basically forced). 2.0U Menu Release date (also release date of Wii) is Nov 19, 2006. 2.0J was released on Dec 2, 2006. 2.0E was released for Australian Wiis released on Dec 7, 2006, and for European Wiis on Dec 8, 2006. 2.0 Menus run on IOS11v10.

2.1E (Version 162) - 2.1 was only for PAL Wiis. It was an update to fix a bug on the News Channel that only effected PAL Wiis. Release date was Jan 10, 2007. Menu still ran on IOS11v10.

2.2J 2.2U 2.2E (Versions 192, 193, 194) - An update to resolve connection issues for users with an undisclosed ISP. Released on April 11, 2007. 2.2 Menus run on IOS20v12.

3.0J 3.0U 3.0E (Versions 224, 225, 226) - Clock display added. Channels can now gather WC24 information. Wii Message Board button now flashes when a new message arrives. Fixed bugs on LAN adapters. Release date is Aug 6, 2007. 3.0 Menus run on IOS30v1037.

3.1J 3.1U 3.1E (Versions 256. 257, 258) - USB keyboard support added. Many channel updates. Release date is Oct 10, 2007. 3.1 Menus run on IOS30v1039.

3.2J 3.2U 3.2E (Versions 288. 289, 290) - Disc Channel now shows Wii System Update if a Disc containing needed updates is inserted. Wii LED light now glows when receiving info from game. Release date is Feb 25, 2008. 3.2 Menus run on IOS30v1040

3.3J 3.3U 3.3E (Versions 352. 353. 354) - First attempt at blocking Twilight Hack. Release date is Jun 16, 2008. Taiwan Wiis were released on Jul 2, 2008. So this was the first system menu version for the Taiwan Wiis. 3.3J/U/E Menus ran on IOS30v2576.

3.3K (Version 326) - First system menu for Korean Wiis. Release date of Menu/Wii is Apr 26, 2008. Korean Wiis had the 3.3 Menu for nearly 2 months before the other Wiis. 3.3K Menu runs on IOS40v2320.

Wii Nand 4.3 Amp

3.4J 3.4U 3.4E (Version 384. 385, 386) - New EULA. Second attempt at blocking Twilight Hack. No 3.4 menu for Korean Wiis. USB Keyboard support for Mii Channel added and upgrades done to Parental Controls. Release date is Nov 17, 2008. Menus run on IOS50v4889.

3.5K (Version 390) - Only available for Korean Wiis. New Shop Channel and Region Select Channel. Release date is Mar 3, 2009. Menu runs on IOS52v5661.

4.0J 4.0U 4.0E (Version 416. 417, 418) - SDHC support added. Transfer button added to Wii's Data Management menu. Twilight Hack no longer works. 4.0 menu not available for Korean Wiis. Release date is Mar 25, 2009. Menus run on IOS60v6174.

4.1J 4.1U 4.1E 4.1K (Version 448, 449, 450, 454) - Fixed problem related to the Wii Motion Plus vidoe and SD card menu. 4.1J release date is Jul 3, 2009. 4.1U/E release date is Jul 15, 2009. 4.1K release date is Jul 30, 2009. Menus still ran on IOS60v6174.

4.2J 4.2U 4.2E 4.2K (Versions 480. 481, 482, 486) - Bannerbomb V1 no longer works. Bootmii as boot2 gets uninstalled due to new boot2v4 being added. HAXX and DVDX title ID's blacklisted. IOS's 222, 223, 249, 250 added to remove/block cIOS installation. Attempt at blocking Region Free hacks. Error 003 introduced: If a region changed (hacked) Korean Wii updates to 4.2, Error 003 will appear. Only one known complicated method can fix Error 003 (involves custom Channel and Brawl disc), therefore Error 003 is considered by many to be a full brick. Release date is Sep 28, 2009. Menus run on IOS70v6687.

4.3J 4.3U 4.3E 4.3K (Versions 512, 513, 514, 518) - Bannerbomb V2 no longer works (Error 004 will appear). Bootmii as an IOS gets deleted because of added IOS254. More title ID's blacklisted. HBC gets removed. The Hackmii installer exploit that uses Userland+Syscall IOS method no longer works. This is the reason why 4.3 exploits (Letterbomb, Mailbox Bomb) need your MAC address to hack the Wii. 4.3U release date is Jun 21, 2010. 4.3J/E/K release date is Jun 22, 2010. Menus run on IOS80v6943.
